Random Acts
With SFC being away and my network of friends being spread hither and yon across the country, sometimes it’s all too easy to isolate myself and not reach out. And it’s way too easy to lose sight of the fact that even though I may not see some of these folks as often as I would like, they do care. I say this because yesterday I was the recipient of a random act of kindness.
The day was totally average. I did the work thing and then I did a volunteer thing so I got home later than usual. Imagine my surprise when I saw a box on the front porch. I hadn’t ordered anything lately so I wasn’t expecting a delivery. Taking the box inside I saw it was from 1800Flowers. Flowers? I love flowers. But who had sent them?
Inside the box were gerbera daisies and a card telling me that I had gotten the flowers just because. And the sender turned out to be one of those close friends who I don’t get to see enough.
Just like that, an average day became an awesome day. Why? Because someone took the time to remind me that I am loved. And you know what? It’s good to be loved.
