I’ve been struggling to decide what to do with this space. Lately, I have not been enjoying the process of cooking, shooting, and writing and I always told myself that I would stop blogging when I no longer enjoyed doing it.
While I’m not ready to completely pull the plug on BAH, I definitely need a break. A sabbatical. A time out. So I’m going to take one. I’m going to dig into my “drafts” folder and post the recipes that I’ve been sitting on for months. I need to warn you, it’s not going to be pretty.
There are no pretty food photos. Some drafts may have bits and pieces of the story I had hoped to tell. Most are just the recipe that I managed to type up in order to remind myself to talk about it, without a single bit of narrative.
I don’t know if purging this backlog will do the trick and get me out of my rut. I hope it will but only time will tell.
A well-deserved vacation from the blog is never a bad thing. I can still stalk you in other forms of social media. 🙂
Wendi, I completely identify with this. I’ve taken long breaks this past year. Blogging started to weigh me down. I just wasn’t having fun with it. I feel a new energy for blogging this month finally, but it took a while to get there. Have a great break, and I hope you figure out what’s best for you.
I might go sit in the corner with you a bit, too.
I’ve been cooking, but the blogging part has been difficult to get to–or I’m now just trying to get content for too many things all at once.
I hear you. Blogging is supposed to be fun. When it’s not, it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate 🙂
I definitely understand the need for a time out. I’ve taken several. I’ll miss you, but enjoy every minute.
Take whatever time you need–I think it’s a great policy to stop when it stops being fun. Hope that you recover your blogging voice and vigor during your rest!
Pace is everything. Enjoy, I know someone who will be here reading when you make it back.
Apparently I’ve decided you’re coming back.
I get it too. I’ll miss you though! I haven’t been feeling it lately either. (my blog, not yours, LOL!) Enjoy the break.
I’m a newbie to your posts but I’m glad I got the deviled egg spread recipe. Enjoy your break and come on back when you’re darned good and ready. If you need a display piece that uses toothpicks I have a ceramic sow that is adorable (from the 60’s).
I totally empathize. I’ve been in a year long rut. While I do hope we see you back here, I also hope that you enjoy your time away.
Thanks for the support everyone. I hope some time away will do the trick.
