Next Stop, Alaska

BAH Note: I’ve “stuck” this post to the homepage as a reminder to me that I’m “this” close to getting on that plane and a general reminder that while I am away responses to comments will be sparse.  To see the latest of what’s being served up here at BAH, please scroll down.  As soon as I return, I will return this post to its upright and locked position back in chronological order.

See that map up there? Two weeks from now that’s where The Mistah and I will be.  We’re staying in Wasilla, a town outside of Anchorage.  Maybe you’ve heard of it?

The Mistah is in charge of planning our itinerary.  We’ve talked about a boat tour out of Seward, a day trip to Denali, dog sledding (when there’s no snow on the ground they have the dog teams pull ATV’s), and if he can pull some strings with his extended family up there…an airplane tour.

I am beyond excited for this trip.  While I am away there will still be new recipes and tales served up here at BAH.  But I don’t figure that Sprint’s Now Network is going to give me internet service to respond to comments while we’re out in the vast expanse of the 49th state.

  1. That sounds like the perfect Alaska trip! I’m turning 6 shades of green with envy, but I seriously hope you have the most awesome, amazing trip. Please take lots of photos to share with us when you get back! 🙂

  2. Dude, WHAT A COINCIDENCE!! I’m going to Fairbanks this Wednesday, where my husband and I will spend 2 weeks (with a 2 day trip to Anchorage to see the sights). We come back Labor Day Monday–are we going to coincide in the great state of AK???
We’re going there because my sister Heidi lives on the army base in Fairbanks with her lil’ son James, and her husband is deployed right now.

    1. We will literally be passing each other my friend.  We fly into Anchorage the day before you leave.  I think it’s kind of cruel of The Universe to have us come so close to meeting in real life only to make it absolutely impossible to do so.  You’ll have to email me and let me know what you thought of your time there.

My husband deployed twice since we were married.  Give your sister a ginormous hug from me.

      1. Oh darn it!! I was already having visions of meeting you in Alaska–how cool would that have been??? Anyway, have a blast and I’ll definitely give my sis a hug from you. I’ll (hopefully) be blogging my socks off about the trip when I come back.

        1. Who knows, maybe The Universe will find a way for us to meet all the way up in the 49th state.  You have my email address.  If your departure gets delayed by a day or two, use it and we’ll come up with a plan.

  3. You deserve an amazing vacation. I hope the stars align and the universe cooperated & you have an amazing time. Keep an eye on Russia while you are there, okay? 😉
