Wheel Of Fortune

After the (mis)adventures getting my pictures entered into the Maryland State Fair, my hope was that at least one of my entries would win a prize.  Yes, I thought some of my pictures were awesome.  But was my ‘awesome’ and the judges’ ‘awesome’ the same thing? Flashback Friday – Amazing Race (Maryland State Fair)

Amazing Race (Maryland State Fair)

Sometimes in this life you gotta think on your feet.  By nature, I’m a planner.  I like to know how I’m going to get from Point A to Point B in advance.  When I plot out a route, I pretty much commit to it and dislike last minute change of plans.  This is one reason I would not do well on The Amazing Race.  You know the premise.  Put people in situations where they must overcome a series of detours and road blocks to reach their final destination.  The last to arrive face Philimination.  In the most unlikely of settings, I ran my very own Amazing Race – Maryland State Fair Style. Honorable Mention – The Images

Sometimes I miss the forest for the trees.  Like when I could have posted all of my 2009 Maryland State Fair entries, but instead only linked to a couple of them.  Many thanks to  TKW (The Kitchen Witch) for her suggestion to give all the images their Honorable Mention. So without further ado, I give you my 2009 MSF portfolio:

That last picture, the very blue landscape, that got the official MSF Honorable Mention.  But really, how could the judges NOT love the picture of the carnival rides at night?  Or the blushing tulip?  Don’t tell the other pictures, but those two were my favorites this year.

Honorable Mention

As I said in my interview with The Baltimore Guide, I take pictures because I enjoy it; I photograph what I see around me.  I don’t do it with the notion of awards in mind and I don’t go looking for a shot for the sole purpose of being praised.  However, if someone is so inclined to single out a piece of my work and say that it is worthy of mention, I’m not going to argue. Cover Girl

Remember last year’s Maryland State Fair saga?  Lesson learned.  This year’s entries were matted and framed according to MSF regulations before The Mistah and I headed off on holiday.  All I had to do was get back to the States, deliver them to the fairgrounds, and let the Wheel of Fortune decide if it was going to land on my number.  But before any of that happened, The Baltimore Guide, a community newspaper, wanted to speak with me about my experience exhibiting and competing at the Fair. I figured it would end up being some little blurb as part of a larger piece.  And then I went online to see if the article had published and found myself on the cover.  Me, a cover girl?  Go figure.
